October Tea Ceremony | The Art of Herbal Infusions | Delicate & Deep

Discover how flowers, leaves, and roots each reveal something different when made into an infusion.

Join us for our second tea experience at Ren & Kate Farm as we explore the art of preparing herbal infusions and decoctions. Through a series of small, side-by-side tastings, you’ll experience firsthand how the part of the plant, water, temperature, and time can transform the flavor and quality of your brew.  You will learn how to brew the perfect cup of tea.

October's theme is Delicate & Deep inviting us to appreciate both what is easily revealed and what takes a little more time and patience to uncover.

Date & Time: Sunday October 18th 10-11:30am

During this experience, you'll learn:

• The difference between true tea, herbal tea, infusions, and decoctions

• How flowers, leaves, and roots require different preparation methods

• How much dried herb to use when preparing a cup at home

• How water temperature and steeping time affect your finished brew

• Why covering your herbal tea while it steeps matters

• How to recognize when an herb has been under- or over-steeped

• How to brew the perfect cup of tea.

• How to properly prepare tougher plant materials such as roots

• How to use your senses, color, aroma, flavor, and mouthfeel, to recognize a well-prepared herbal brew

We'll taste a variety of herbs and create your own tea blend to take home.  We'll finish with time for quiet reflection inspired by the theme.  Please bring a journal and pen for personal reflection and note taking. No previous herbal or tea knowledge is needed.

$35 per person | Limited to 8 guests

The experience will be held outdoors on our deck overlooking the pond and wooded area of the farm. In the event of rain or unsuitable weather, we'll gather inside.
