September Tea Ceremony | The Art of Green Tea | Fully Present
September Tea Ceremony | The Art of Green Tea | Fully Present
Join us for an intimate outdoor tea experience overlooking the pond and wooded landscape of Ren & Kate Farm. Through the ritual of preparing and sharing green tea, we’ll slow down, engage the senses, and discover how something as simple as a cup of tea can become a practice of presence.
Theme: Showing up fully in each moment. Learning to savor instead of rushing. Treating the present moment as a gift.
Location: Ren & Kate Farm 29151 E. 28th St. S Broken Arrow, OK
Date & Time: Sunday September 20th, 10-11:30am
Throughout the experience, you’ll learn:
-
Where tea comes from and a brief history of tea and its traditions.
-
How green, white, oolong and black teas come from the same plant, Camellia sinensis, and what makes each one different.
-
How water temperature and steeping time affect your tea, including why green tea can become bitter when prepared incorrectly
-
The purpose of traditional tea vessels, including the small teapot, tasting cups, tea tray, filter and fairness pitcher
-
How to prepare green tea using multiple short infusions rather than one long steep
-
How to experience tea with your senses, noticing the dry and steeped leaves, aroma, color, flavor, mouthfeel and finish
-
How the flavor and aroma of the same tea change from one infusion to the next
-
How to bring more intention and presence into your own tea ritual at home
Together, we’ll move through several small infusions of green tea, allowing time to experience, notice, connect and reflect. We’ll close with a personal reflection inspired by our September theme, Fully Present.
Please bring a journal and pen for personal reflection. No previous tea knowledge or experience is needed.
$35 per person | Limited to 8 guests
The experience will be held outdoors on our covered deck overlooking the pond and wooded area of the farm. In the event of rain or unsuitable weather, we’ll gather inside. A light snack will be provided.
